 Post subject: Red-breasted nuthatches

I still have two red-breasted nuthatches coming to my feeders. I suppose they must be nesting here. Any thoughts about how common this is?

Lee,
I would agree that they are likely breeding birds. As I recall, you have a clump of conifers near your house. I've found that this is usually all it takes. I have summer records of them in other locations at Brighton Rec. Area. I also have records of several other species that I tend to associate more with Boreal forests, including Brown Creeper, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Blue-headed Vireo and Pine Warbler. It's an interesting mix at Brighton Recreation Area. I wonder if the Pine Warblers are starting their second brood, they are singing like crazy right now.
