I've been spending time in Kansas City along the Kansas/Missouri border so I have not posted much for Michigan. Mostly the birds are the same as Michigan. I went for a walk along the Missouri River today. I saw a Ross's Goose and a Hermit Thrush. The Ross's Goose does regularly winter this far North particularly along the River but is not common. This is further North than the thrush should have been but not dramaticly. I saw a Downy Woodpecker that was noticibly different than its Michigan cousins. There are alot of Canada Geese and Common Mergansers wintering in the river here. Not today but several times while observing large groups of Canada Geese I have seen several that were much smaller than the ones near them. I do not know enough to be much more precise. I saw a Common Merganser pull about an 8" fish out of the river today. He tried to swallow it for about 10 minutes and then flew off with it in his bill. It has gotten below zero several times but very little snow. The temperature changes more dramaticly here than in Michigan.

Good Luck,

Jerry
